About a year ago or so, I Heart SapphFic asked me to be a part of a project with some amazing authors, writing a novella that had something to do with Pride. I said yes, of course, and have been working with this group of talented people for the past several months putting this collection together.
When I was thinking about what to write about Pride, an idea instantly hit me: a festival. I got a picture of a Ferris wheel in my mind and decided to tell the story around someone putting together a Pride festival for their community. That wasn’t enough, though, so I based the story in a small town where there had never been any kind of Pride event. And since I don’t usually write younger characters, I thought this was the perfect opportunity to do so because I wanted to pair Pride with self-discovery and positivity. My hope was that people could read this novella and identify with at least one of the characters either today or find their younger self in there somewhere.
On top of that, I decided to write two love stories... Two friends start the festival together and they both meet someone special along the way. I hope you check out this story as well as all the others in the collection. They’re all available for pre-order now and release on June 1st, just in time for Pride month to begin.
